In the category of ‘Destroying more things we all loved’ it seems that Beverley Hills Cop 4 is still happening.
The first Beverley Hills Cop was a classic, introducing many people to Eddie Murphy, playing Axel Foley, the foul-mouthed Detroit cop, who would bend the rules to get justice. The second movie wasn’t great, whereas the third one was just plain bad.
As we all know, Hollywood dare not risk anything on original IPs, so it was only a matter of time before Axel was back in another Beverley Hills Cop movie.
Eddie Murphy is back for this new movie, this time, being joined by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Taylor Paige. Netflix is producing and has given it the full title of Beverley Hills Cop: Axel Foley. Brilliant!
The director is Mark Molloy, best known for his adverts for Go Daddy, Nissan, and Apple. Another first-time director, who is going to be someone easy to control and tell what to do.
Rumour has it that Murphy would only return if the script was good enough. Something he learned from Norbit and Nutter Professor 2: Meet the Klumps.
It will be interesting to see if this movie is set in Beverley Hills again since that’s the name in the title.
