HALLOWEEN ENDS: A Review

So it’s finally here, the end of the Halloween series, or just the end of the reboot that started in 2018? I don’t know and I don’t really care.

I have watched some crap this year and have been pretty annoyed about it all. I think that Halloween Ends is one of the worst pieces of crap I have seen.

To start off, I didn’t rate the 2018 one much, Halloween Kills was the best comedy I have seen in ages since I laughed at it a lot. I didn’t have much hope for Ends.

*spoilers are ahead*

The first hour and a half sets up a character, Corey. At the beginning of the movie, he accidentally kills a kid he is babysitting for, so a good start. The after-effects of the killing mean everyone hates him and labels him the ‘kid killer’.

We catch up with Laurie and her granddaughter after the events from Halloween Kills. Laurie sets up her granddaughter with Corey.

The downside is Corey is still being picked on and ends up meeting Michael Myers in a sewer. Yes, Michael is alive and well, living in a sewer, just waiting for the right time to strike again and this is where the movie becomes a joke.

Michael can sense the ‘evil’ in Corey and pretty much trains him to be the next man in the mask. Honestly, this is how the story plays out! It seems like they are going to kill Michael off, so they bring in a ‘spare’.

Now, I will admit, the love story between Corey and Allyson, Laurie’s granddaughter, is then interesting. Is she going to fall in love with the new Michael Myers? At one point I thought they would make them a couple, with him as the killer, just so they could carry on the Halloween franchise.

Thank goodness though, this doesn’t happen.

*spoilers about the ending*

Basically, the setup with Corey builds to nothing, since he kills himself, making it look like Laurie did it, just to have Allyson find out.

Michael finally turns up and tries to kill Laurie and, let’s just say, it all ends.

They toyed with the idea of killing Laurie off and, for a brief moment, I felt happy for Jamie Lee Curtis, since she would be finally free of this crap.

As I said, an hour and a half of Halloween Ends is a fake setup, for the actual conclusion in the last 15 minutes. The good news is, there shouldn’t be any more of these awful movies to sit through.

*end of all spoilers*

Someone had a go at me once on Twitter when I said Danny McBride is a crappy writer. I feel very vindicated now that I was right.

The blurb on this movie says:

The saga of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode comes to a spine-chilling climax in this final installment of this trilogy.

So this was a trilogy, although, there are flashbacks to some of the original movies, apart from Halloween 3, obviously. As I said, I hope this is the last one, because you honestly couldn’t get any worse than this.

Halloween Ends is another perfect example of why some franchises should be left alone. The original movie is a classic and almost a perfect slasher movie. This last one is a steaming pile of dog shit!
