The new Netflix series Wednesday, based on The Addams Family, will be streaming soon and more images have turned up online.
Jenna Ortega will be playing Wednesday and these images show the rest of the cast including Christina Ricci, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, and Thora Birch.
Directed by Tim Burton, the show has been described as:
“…a comedic, supernaturally-infused coming-of-age series that follows the teenage girl’s years as a student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the town, and solve a mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new relationships at Nevermore.”
According to reports Christine Ricci, who originally played the character in the movie in 1991, will be playing an “exciting new character” on the show. She has said about Ortega’s take on Wednesday:
“Jenna is incredible… she has a great modern take. It’s so true tonally to the heart and soul of [the original], but it’s then it’s incredibly modern and it’s great.”
There’s still no release date for Wednesday just yet, but it is scheduled for this year, probably around Halloween.
