The Fallout games are truly epic. I’ve spent many a happy out exploring the wastelands, battling giant fire-breathing ants, bartering for weapons with passing tradesmen, and listening to a classic old-timey soundtrack.
Since the games have been such a success, it wasn’t going to be long before someone had to turn it into a movie or TV series.
The games follow the theme, what if a nuclear war destroyed the US in the 1950s and the only survivors lived in bomb-proof vaults?
Most people are familiar with Fallout 3 which came out in 2008, in which you, a vault dweller, have to leave and go off into the outside in search of your father. The story is great and very engaging and keeps you hooked.
This new Fallout series is being written by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan has been developing the series for a couple of years now. Nolan is the brother of Christopher Nolan and is known for writing things like Momento, The Prestige, and The Dark Knight. Nolan has said:
“Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time. Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios.”
The good news is it is one of the Nolan brothers writing it, the bad news is it is being produced by Amazon Studios. Here is the first image from the new series.
The cast for the new Fallout is pretty good for the series, including Kyle MacLachlan, Walton Goggins, Ella Purnell, Mike Doyle, and Neil Towne.
Please don’t mess this up!
