I saw Brain and Charles the other day and I genuinely loved it, it was sweet, funny, and just something nicely original to enjoy.
I was able to reach out to the director, Jim Archer, on social media and he was polite enough to sit down and have a chat with us at the Last Movie Outpost.
Annoyingly, Jim’s video froze after about 10 seconds into the interview, so I had to use a nice picture of him instead, the wonders of modern technology. Funnily enough, it turned out that Jim just lives down the road from me in Dorset.
He was such a nice guy to talk to and the story of how Brian and Charles evolved and how it was based on a stage comedy show and ended up as a full-length feature film.
It was also interesting to hear about its budget of Charles, compared to say, the budget of Avengers: Endgame.
I’m still going to sing the praises of Brain and Charles since I really did love it and I’m not just saying that because Jim was nice enough to do the interview with us. The movie is a wonderful break from the ‘content’ that Hollywood churns out.
