OK, so The Banshees of Inisherin might not mean much to you, but if I say it’s a follow-up to In Burges starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, then it gets more interesting.
The Banshees of Inisherin reunites Farrell and Gleeson with director Martin McDonagh. The story of this new movie is:
Two lifelong friends find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship, with alarming consequences for both of them.
Both of the Irishmen sat down and chatted about the movie and their friendship, which they described as:
“…deeply organic and familiar.”
Talking about the relationships of their characters in the movie, talk turned to Oscar nominations. Farrell said:
“Between the two of us, I would choose him, and he would choose me. That’s the gospel truth. If I got a nod and he didn’t, I would be crushed.”
McDonagh said that the chemistry between the two was so good, that if they haven’t signed for The Banshees of Inisherin, it would never have been made since both of them are perfectly cast for the movie.
I’d happily watch Farrell and Gleeson chew a script like this up for a couple of hours. The Banshees of Inisherin is due out today, 21st Oct.
